I’ve been sick all week. I’m feeling better but was still pretty tired yesterday, so I didn’t think we’d hike very far this weekend. We decided to take a short walk on Sunday after church. My older daughter had forgotten her sneakers so she decided to go barefoot most the time. I think we’ll call her the “Barefoot Hiker” from now on! Lol This was a park mainly used by mountain bikers so it was pretty muddy. My daughter enjoyed the freedom of being able to walk right through the mud puddles while we tried our hardest to avoid them! We also came across this crazy bridge that turned a corner and was sloped higher on one side to make turning the corner with a bike easier!
They trail seemed to go on longer than we expected, and we were tired. It just kept going and going. Just when we thought we were headed back south to the entrance it would loop back north again. By the time we finished, we ended up hiking five miles! But hiking and nature always make me feel good. So despite my physical fatigue, it revived my spirit. And we were pleased that all four of us are building our stamina and are able to hike longer distances easier. Plus we enjoy hiking together as a family. It gives us a common goal and a shared experience. And I’m thankful that God has inspired is to do this and has blessed us through it!
