The other day I was listening to our Christian radio station, KLOVE, and I heard a really great message. I believe it was from one of the ladies at Proverbs 31 Ministries. She was saying that God delights in us! I know this is true, but in the daily grind of life it’s easy to forget.
She said that God sees us as we often see our own children. He delights in whatever stage of spiritual growth we are in. He doesn’t expect us to be running when we are toddlers just learning to walk. In fact, He, like human parents, delights in our first hesitating steps.
Remember what it is like when a child first walks? At that moment, the parents think they must have the smartest, most talented child in the entire world! Even if the child is walking right on time. Lol It doesn’t matter because he is their child and they delight at any progress and growth he makes. They delight just in who he is and all of his unique qualities.
God is the same way with us. He is a good Father, in fact, the best Father. A perfect Father. He too delights in any progress we make and just enjoys us at whatever stage we are at. He does not expect marathon running from a two year old. He loves the child just for who he or she is and what they are capable of at that moment. And because He is God, He also knows what He has created that child for and what amazing things and growth will happen in the future. But for now He delights in him or her just the way she is!
Praise You, God, that You are such a good Father. Thank You that you take great delight in us and value us just the way we are just because we belong to you. What a relief! We love You so much. In Your precious name, amen.
