Do not be anxious about anything, but…present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Phil. 4:6-7
How great is the love the Father has lavished on us… 1 John 3:1
Fifteen minutes before I arrived at the women’s Bible study this morning at church, I noticed that I had a message on my cell phone. I returned the call and found out that our small group leader was sick and was not able to come. She asked me to fill in. I had just gotten back from my reunion trip last Friday. I had read the bible study chapter, but had not done the questions. I was not prepared to do this in 15 minutes! But surprisingly, unlike three months ago, I did not feel terror. I felt a general peace that God could enable me to do this, like He has with all of the other scary things He’s been asking me to do lately.
After I parked in the church parking lot, I sat in my car for a minute. I asked God to help me say what He wanted me to say in the small group and for His amazing peace that He has given me before in these situations. As I got out of the car, and walked into the church, something on the ground caught my eye. It was a small, yellow and red, heart-shaped crape myrtle leaf. It seemed to be the only crape myrtle leaf on the ground there that was actually in the shape of a heart. I picked it up. I realized it was a valentine from God, just for me. It was such a little, seemingly insignificant gift, yet so meaningful to me. God heard me! He loves me! He enjoys expressing His love so lavishly to me. And most importantly He was saying He would help me.
And He did. He gave me His peace. Once again, I was amazed at what He can do in me. Praise You Holy God. Thank You that You do such amazing things in us weak, clay vessels. You are amazing. We love You!
"Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you...When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned...For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior." Isa. 43:2-3
