Penn State in the Fall

I was reading through my journal and came across this entry.  The description of Fall felt like a nice little vacation from the 100 degree weather we’ve been having lately!   This journal entry was from October 17, 1991:

 

Thank you God for Fall, for October, and for October 17^th in particular!  I love pumpkins, big, lob-sided, orange-red ones, and leaves, red, yellow, orange, green, purple, and every color in between.  I love 50 degree weather, not too warm, not too cold, but definitely Fall!  I love Penn State in the Fall!  The old, stately buildings and huge trees – so much character and beauty.  I love the idea of snow coming soon – could happen any one of these nights!  I love candy corn – the ones that are all different colors and shapes.  I love gourds and baby pumpkins for decoration.  I love wearing a hat because it is chilly outside, and snuggling up under a sheet, a blanket, and two comforters at night.  I love pumpkin seeds!  (Or at least the idea of them, they don’t taste so great!)  I love carving pumpkins and making funny faces.

 

I love you Lord, because you created Fall knowing that I would enjoy it so much.  I praise you.  Please hold me, never let me go, no matter how stupid I am, and teach me to love you and how to obey you.  Teach me also to be content.  I like my life, Lord.  I’d better put a star on this page so I can see the proof that I actually said that!   

 

I’m so impatient waiting to graduate and to get married in December.  It is so hard living 900 miles apart from my fiancé.  Tomorrow is Friday!  It was Friday not too long ago.  They go by so quickly.  If I just sat back and relaxed, it will be the Friday night before my wedding before I even realized it! 

 

I went for a drive on the back roads of Pennsylvania, not sure where I was going.  It was nice to take off to be alone with God.  I got lost, but He helped me find my way back just in time!  Thank you God, for getting me unlost for my 2:00 class!   I love you lord
