As for God, His way if perfect. 2 Sam. 22:31
Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. Ps. 37:4
It was our last day during our trip to New Mexico two weeks ago. Our plan was to go shopping in Santa Fe that day, but we had just been shopping in Taos the day before, and I had already spent too much money! I was also thinking I really wanted to do some more hiking and exploring, and see the more rural part of New Mexico. I gave the desire to God, trusting His plans. As we were driving to Santa Fe, my mom and I were having a heated “discussion”, and I began to drive faster and faster, not paying attention to where we were at all. Next thing I know, I had missed all the Santa Fe exits, and we were on our way to Albuquerque! So we decided to take the very next exit. As we were pulling over to a gas station, we noticed the sign “Tent Rocks National Monument”. Also, on the side of the road there were some Indian crafts for sale. So my mom and I stopped and looked at the crafts. I found a beautiful silver cross pendant with a turquoise stone on it that I was quite pleased with. Then we decided to go with the flow. We would skip Santa Fe and head to the Tent Rocks N.M. instead.
Secretly I was pleased, because this was really what I wanted to do, and God was working it out. We had so much fun hiking around the tent rocks. They are triangle shaped rocks that come to a point at the top. Often there is a harder “helmet” rock balanced on top, which has protected the “tent” below from erosion as the rest of the rock around it eroded away. Then we climbed into a cave about 8 or 10 feet high on the cliff. It was so exhilarating to figure out how to climb up with the vague foot and hand holds that were carved into the rock. I felt really brave in God when I made it up to the cave. The view from the cave was so pretty, overlooking the valley and the sandstone cliffs. There was a nice breeze flowing into the small cave from the valley below.
We stopped occasionally during the hike and sat. We enjoyed the desert scenery, rocky, sandy ground, and the short, wide pinon oaks which are very old, but cannot get very large because of the lack of water. We looked up at the awesome desert cliffs towering above us, with a few tent rocks on top. The cliffs had many layers of different colors of rocks. As we sat enjoying the view, God teased our hair with His gentle breeze. He sent a cloud to cover the sun for most of our hike, which was a great relief from the heat earlier that day. Then He sent a few raindrops to cool us a bit. I was so thankful that despite our heated “discussion” and lack attention to the road signs, God created a perfect day for us anyway.
Father, thank You for planning my day perfectly. I love Your plans. I love You and that You care about Me. I am thrilled with You Jesus.
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Rom. 8:28

Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!...I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland. Isa. 43:18,19
